Purpose:
To guide chapters on how to request a new Employer Identification Number (EIN) through the Sorority’s Compliance Department.
What is an EIN?
An Employer Identification Number (EIN)—also known as a Federal Tax Identification Number (FTIN)—is a 9-digit number (e.g., 12-3456789) used to identify a business entity for tax filing and reporting purposes.
The EIN is issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and is required for most financial and legal transactions involving your chapter.
Note: Obtaining an EIN is a free service provided by the IRS.
How to Request a New EIN
All requests for new EINs must be submitted through the Compliance Department at International Corporate Headquarters (ICHQ).
