Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated - Sexual Harassment Reporting Guidelines


1. Immediate Safety:

  • If you are in immediate danger, prioritize your safety. Seek help from friends, authorities, or a trusted individual.


2. Understand Sexual Harassment:

  • Familiarize yourself with the sorority's definition of sexual harassment, which can be accessed on the Sorority’s National Website. Be aware that sexual harassment can take various forms, including verbal, physical, or visual conduct of a sexual nature.


3. Reporting Channels:

  • Sorors who believe sexual harassment has occurred shall immediately notify at least one of the following:
    • The Soror’s respective Regional Syntaktes, Undergraduate Chapter Coordinator or Regional Legal Advisor;
    • If traveling and accompanied by another member of the sorority, the highest-ranking member attending; 
    • The Sorority’s Executive Director.


4. Confidentiality:

  • Understand that your report can be handled confidentially. Your privacy will be respected, and efforts will be made to keep information confidential to the extent permitted by law.


5. Initial Contact:

  • Upon reporting, expect an initial contact from the designated individual (confidential advisor, officer or committee member) to discuss the situation, provide support, and explain the next steps.


6. Support for Survivor:

  • Seek immediate support. You have the right to access counseling services, resources, and the option to have a trusted friend present during the reporting process.


7. Formalizing the Report:

  • If you decide to proceed with a formal complaint, will need to provide detailed information about the incident and sent to the Regional Syntaktes, with a copy to the First Grand Anti-Basileus.


8. Communication Protocols:

  • Clear communication protocols will be established to keep you informed about the progress of the investigation while maintaining confidentiality.


9. Resolution and Disciplinary Action:

  • Following the investigation, appropriate disciplinary actions will be determined based on the findings. Actions may range from educational interventions to suspension or expulsion, as deemed necessary.


10. Follow-Up Support:

  • Ongoing support may be provided to you, and you will be informed of your rights throughout the resolution process.
